Insolvency Interest Group

The Insolvency Interest Group (IIG) was set up by the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs in March 1987 as an informal discussion group, which operates under the auspices of the Institute's Insolvency Practitioners Committee (IPC). It also forms the basis of the Institute's membership of the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptey Professionals (INSOL). The objectives of the IIG are:-

(i) to provide a forum to enable insolvency practitioners in Hong Kong to exchange views and discuss matters of interest in the area of insolvency;

(ii) to act as a resource group for the IPC and thus for the Institute in matters relating to insolvency;

(iii) to provide a conduit to bring the particular concerns of members working in the insolvency field to the attention of the Institute's Council and IPC;

(iv) to provide continuous professional development or education in areas of specific interest to its membership;

(v) with the approval of the IPC and Council, to provide a platform for insolvency professionals to raise matters with, and channel views on insolvency-related issues and practices to professionals or government bodies in other jurisdictions (e.g. the PRC); and

(vi) to form the basis of the Institute's membership of the International Federation of Insolvency Professionals (INSOL).

The membership of the IIG as at June 2007 stood at 362. The group has a broad-based membership of professionals working in the field of insolvency, including accountants, lawyers, regulators and bankers.

The IIG holds regular lunch seminars at a cost of HK$150 for members and HK$220 for non-members.
